Distinctio (dis-tinc’-ti-o): Eliminating ambiguity surrounding a word by explicitly specifying each of its distinct meanings.

Fire: Burning material (campfire)

Fire: To make something move very fast (fire a fastball)

Fire: To be dismissed from your job (you’re fired)

You’re not burning.

You’re not throwing pitches.

Actually, you’re fired.
